One dead, IB Inspector injured as clashes erupt during Banned JAAC Protest in Dadyal

DADYAL: In the banned JAAC protest where at least one protester was killed and an Intelligence Bureau (IB) inspector sustained injuries after clashes broke out between police and protesters during a demonstration reportedly organized by the banned JAAC in Dadyal.

The authorities said approximately 200 to 300 protesters gathered at Amb Chowk in Dadyal despite restrictions on the organization. A heavy police contingent reached the site to disperse the crowd and prevent any deterioration in the law and order situation.

In this regard, the protesters allegedly opened fire on police personnel during the operation. In response, police fired aerial shots in an attempt to disperse the gathering. During the exchange, IB Inspector Umar sustained a gunshot wound to his leg.

The injured officer was immediately shifted to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, Dadyal, where hospital sources described his condition as stable.

The authorities further stated that one of the armed protesters, who fired at police personnel, was killed during the incident.

The body was shifted to DHQ Hospital, while police have initiated legal procedures and further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

No official statement has yet been issued regarding additional arrests or injuries.

Meanwhile, a separate peace rally organized by the pro-Pakistan OSU was held in Mirpur without incident. According to organizers and official estimates, the event was attended by approximately 800 to 1,000 participants.

The participants in the peace march expressed support for peace, stability, and the rule of law. Speakers at the gathering strongly condemned the reported activities of JAAC and called for maintaining harmony and public order across the region.
