PAF Group Captain Asim Martyred while rescuing woman from abduction attempt

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Group Captain Asim embraced martyrdom after intervening to rescue a woman from an attempted abduction on Islamabad’s Ninth Avenue.

In this regard, the Group Captain was travelling to Ninth Avenue when he noticed a woman appearing to be in distress near a motorcycle.

He witnessed that the motorcycle rider was attempting to pull the woman against her will. Acting as a responsible citizen, the Group Captain Asim turned his vehicle around and approached the scene to offer assistance.

The woman immediately moved towards Group Captain Asim’s vehicle in an apparent attempt to seek safety.

The Group Captain Asim sustained critical gunshot injuries and, despite efforts to save him, succumbed to his wounds, attaining martyrdom. The suspect reportedly fled the scene immediately after the shooting.

The woman informed investigators that the suspect was her office colleague who had offered to give her a ride to work. However, she alleged that he changed the route and attempted to take her to another location against her wishes, leading to a struggle between them.

The woman told police that the timely intervention of Group Captain Asim helped protect her from the alleged attack.

Group Captain Asim is survived by his widow, a daughter, and a son. The news of his sacrifice has sparked an outpouring of grief and appreciation from people across the country.

Many have praised his sense of duty, bravery, and commitment to helping others beyond the call of his official responsibilities.

The incident has been widely viewed as a powerful reminder of the courage displayed by those who risk their lives to protect others.
