Terrorist attack foiled Near Mosmiyat as security forces launch operation

KARACHI: The developing security situation unfolded after an apparent terrorist attack was reported near the gate of the KTC Rangers Karachi.

In this regard, the preliminary information indicates that the attackers detonated an explosive device targeting a vehicle near the entrance of the Meteorological Department.

The security sources believe the blast was intended to create confusion and provide an opportunity for another group of militants to infiltrate the Rangers Headquarters using the Meteorological Department office as an access route.

In this sense, the heavy gunfire was reported from the area as security personnel engaged the attackers.

There are several witnesses described hearing intense exchanges of fire while security forces launched a swift operation to secure the area and neutralize the threat.

In addition, five terrorist has been killed during the operation. The officials further stated that the remaining militants are being pursued as the security operation continues. The suspected infiltration attempt was successfully thwarted, preventing the attackers from entering the Rangers Headquarters.

So far, no casualties or injuries have been sustained by security personnel during the ongoing operation. However, authorities have emphasized that the situation remains active and that the operation is still underway.
