Metro Bus Service Suspended in Islamabad Today Ahead of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s Visit

ISLAMABAD: The authorities have announced the temporary suspension of Metro Bus services in several parts of Islamabad today due to the official visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Pakistan.

The measures have been taken as part of increased security and traffic management arrangements in the federal capital.

The Metro Bus service in Islamabad will remain completely suspended throughout the day. However, the service in Rawalpindi will continue to operate from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. to facilitate commuters.

In this regard, the officials stated that Metro Bus operations will remain functional between Saddar Station and Faizabad. However, services from IJP Road to the Pak Secretariat route will remain suspended for the entire day.

In addition to transport restrictions, all hiking trails and recreational tracks in Islamabad have also been closed as part of the security plan for the high-profile visit.

In this regard, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is arriving in Pakistan today on an official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and discussing matters of mutual interest.

One of the key purposes of the visit is to acknowledge and appreciate Pakistan’s efforts regarding diplomatic engagement and mediation initiatives involving Iran and the United States.

Meanwhile, Islamabad has been decorated and prepared to welcome the Iranian President. Special arrangements have been made across the capital, with government buildings, major roads, and important public areas adorned to mark the occasion.

The visit is being viewed as an important step in further enhancing cooperation between Pakistan and Iran, while also reflecting the close diplomatic ties between the two neighboring countries.
