Pakistan Navy Seizes Drugs Worth Rs59.7bn in Gwadar

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Navy seized narcotics worth Rs59.7 billion ($215 million) during a joint intelligence-based counternarcotics operation in Balochistan.

The Pakistan Navy and Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG) carried out the operation in Pishukan, a town on the western shore of Gwadar West Bay. The forces seized 1,500 kilograms of hashish and 500 kilograms of methamphetamine, commonly known as “ice.”

The Pakistan Navy regularly conducts maritime security operations in the Arabian Sea. It works with national and international partners to intercept illegal drug shipments and disrupt smuggling networks.

According to a Navy statement, the seized narcotics have an estimated international market value of $215 million.

Authorities said smugglers were transporting the drugs through the Arabian Sea to international destinations.

The Pakistan Navy handed over the seized narcotics to the Pakistan Coast Guards for legal action and further investigation.
