ISLAMABAD : In a significant move to pass on the benefits of declining petroleum prices to the public, transport authorities have announced a substantial reduction in bus and coach fares for multiple cities across the country. The new fare structure, unveiled on Saturday, brings much-needed relief to travelers amid ongoing economic pressures.
According to the official notification, the fare for the bustling metropolis of Karachi has seen a steep decline, dropping from Rs 5,060 to Rs 4,150. Similarly, passengers traveling to Hyderabad will now pay Rs 3,870, down from the previous Rs 4,720.
The downward trend extends to Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as well. The fare for Rahim Yar Khan has been reduced from Rs 2,230 to Rs 1,830, while the Multan route now costs Rs 1,520, a notable decrease from Rs 1,850. Travelers heading to Pakpattan will benefit from a fare reduction from Rs 1,300 to Rs 1,070, and the fare for Haveli Lakha has been adjusted from Rs 1,330 to Rs 1,090.
In a major relief for northern travelers, the fare for Abbottabad has been slashed drastically from Rs 3,550 to Rs 2,400. Meanwhile, the fare for Dera Ismail Khan has been revised from Rs 3,450 to Rs 3,350.
Officials emphasized that these reductions are a direct consequence of the recent decrease in petroleum product prices. “Steps are being taken to ensure that the relief from lower fuel costs is transferred directly to passengers,” stated a transport official. Authorities have assured the public that strict monitoring will be in place to guarantee the implementation of the new fares across all terminals and booking offices.
Passengers have welcomed the move, expressing hope that further reductions will follow if global oil prices continue to stabilize.
