QUETTA : The province-wide shutter-down strike and protest call issued by the Balochistan Traders Association (BTA) for August 7 and 8 has been canceled following successful negotiations with the provincial government.
The announcement came during a joint press conference held in Quetta, where Provincial Interior Minister Mir Ziaullah Lango and BTA officials addressed the media. BTA President Abdul Rahim Agha confirmed that the strike had been called off, bringing relief to the business community and the general public who were bracing for disruptions.
The press conference was also attended by Special Assistant to the Home Department Babar Yousafzai, Deputy Commissioner Quetta Mehrullah Badini, and Administrator Quetta Bashir Ahmed Barich, signaling the government’s commitment to resolving the traders’ concerns through dialogue.
While specific details of the agreement were not immediately disclosed, the development represents a significant breakthrough between the provincial administration and the trading community. The cancellation of the strike is expected to ensure normal business activity and public life in Quetta and across Balochistan on the scheduled dates
