Ghana Defence Chief Meets Field Marshal Asim Munir, Vows to Boost Ties

RAWALPINDI: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, met with Ghanaian Chief of Defence Staff Lieutenant General William Agyapong at the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Thursday, with both sides expressing determination to enhance military-to-military relations between the two countries.

 

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting focused on mutual interests, regional security, and bilateral defence cooperation. Discussions also covered joint counter-terrorism training and defence production, the military’s media wing said.

 

The Ghanaian Chief of Defence Staff appreciated the professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces, the ISPR added.

 

Upon his arrival at the GHQ, Lieutenant General Agyapong was presented with a guard of honour in a formal ceremony.

 

The meeting is seen as part of Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to strengthen defence ties with African nations, particularly in the areas of training and military collaboration.
