CM Bugti Warns of Severe Ecological Threats to Balochistan

Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti on Thursday directed the Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply with stable voltage across the province, while stressing the adoption of modern technology to improve transparency and efficiency in the power sector.

 

The chief minister issued these directives during a meeting in Quetta with a QESCO delegation led by Board of Directors Chairman Abdul Karim Jaffri, according to an official statement.

 

During the meeting, both sides held detailed discussions on the company’s overall performance, improvement in power transmission and distribution systems, consumer grievances, recovery of outstanding dues, reduction in line losses, and the introduction of modern technologies, including an artificial intelligence-based meter reading system.

 

QESCO officials briefed the chief minister on the utility’s operational performance, ongoing reforms, and future plans aimed at enhancing electricity services across the province. The delegation also apprised him of steps being taken to make the power supply system more efficient and transparent through the implementation of AI-powered meter reading and other digital reforms.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Bugti said all available resources must be utilized to provide reliable and uninterrupted electricity to consumers. He emphasized that introducing modern technologies in the energy sector would help improve service delivery, boost transparency, and strengthen public trust.

 

He underlined the need for an effective strategy to improve recovery of electricity bills and eliminate power theft, describing such measures as essential to prevent the wastage of national resources.

 

The chief minister assured that the provincial government would extend full cooperation in projects aimed at public welfare and maintain close coordination with federal institutions for the improvement of the electricity network in

Balochistan.
