Local cleric, JUI-F leader shot dead in Charsadda

QUETTA : The ongoing unannounced and prolonged electricity load shedding in most areas of the provincial capital has become a cause of severe suffering and distress for the people, leaders of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) said on Saturday.

In a joint statement, JUI District Quetta Ameer Sheikh Al-Hadith Maulana Abdul Rehman Rafiq, Secretary General Haji Ainullah Shams, Senior Deputy Ameer Maulana Khurshid Ahmed, Haji Bashir Ahmed Kakar, Information Secretary Abdul Ghani Shahzad, Abdul Samad Haqyar, Mufti Muhammad Abu Bakr, Digital Media Coordinator Abdul Bari Shahzad, Maulana Jamaluddin Haqqani, Mufti Rashid Ahmed Haqqani and Haji Atta Muhammad Shamshozai said that frequent power outages during the intense heat season have paralyzed the daily lives of citizens.

They alleged that due to the incompetence, negligence and poor planning of the QESCO authorities, the people are constantly facing difficulties. The uncertain power supply is not only affecting domestic consumers but also the business community, they added.

The leaders pointed out that shopkeepers involved in cold drinks, milk, yogurt and other food items are facing financial losses, which are having a significant negative impact on their business activities.

“Due to the worst administrative situation, the citizens of Quetta are deprived of basic facilities. It seems that the city has been practically left as a hotbed of problems,” they said in the statement.

The JUI leaders lamented that the government and the relevant administration are not showing seriousness in resolving public problems and civic issues.

They demanded that the government and QESCO authorities immediately take emergency measures to end unannounced load shedding and ensure uninterrupted power supply across the provincial capital.
