QUETTA: The Balochistan government held a series of briefings at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat to review provincial development, the mining sector and the security situation.
The briefings covered the province’s social and economic sectors, mineral resources, mining projects and law and order.
Officials from the Planning and Development Department briefed the participants on the provincial government’s strategy for the social and economic sectors.
They outlined measures to improve governance and service delivery. They also discussed the effective use of public funds and efforts to ensure that development projects deliver benefits to people.
Meanwhile, officials from the Ministry of Minerals and Resources briefed the meeting on the potential of Balochistan’s mineral and mining sector.
They presented details of ongoing projects and measures aimed at expanding the sector.
The officials said the government was taking steps to ensure that the development of the mineral sector brings economic and other benefits to the people of Balochistan.
The Home and Tribal Affairs Department also briefed the meeting on measures to improve law and order across the province.
The briefing covered the Provincial Action Plan and police reforms. Officials also discussed the integration of the Levies Force into the police force.
In addition, officials updated the meeting on progress on the Safe City project, legislation and efforts to improve coordination among law enforcement agencies.
Following the briefings, the chief minister held a detailed question-and-answer session with the participants.
The chief minister responded to several questions and shared his position on issues related to different sectors of the province.
The discussions focused on improving governance, accelerating development and strengthening security across Balochistan.
