ISLAMABAD: US President Donald Trump has announced the signing of a comprehensive agreement between the United States and Iran, expressing optimism for the restoration of good relations between the two nations.
Speaking to the media during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, the US President shared that oil tanker traffic has already resumed through the Strait of Hormuz, which is scheduled to be completely opened by Friday.
President Trump emphasized that the primary objective of the deal is to permanently prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons and to establish long-term peace, adding that global markets are already recovering following the agreement.
The President noted that either he or Vice President JD Vance might personally attend the official signing ceremony.
He added that the draft of the agreement will be made public shortly after the deal is finalized. Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also confirmed that a meeting between the heads of the respective negotiating teams is likely to take place in Switzerland this Friday.
