Trump optimistic that petrol prices will drop sharply after Iran war ends

WASHINGTON: The US President Donald Trump has expressed optimism that global oil prices will decline rapidly once the ongoing conflict involving Iran comes to an end.

Trump shared his views on international developments, economic expectations, and his personal outlook.

Trump drew a comparison between political leadership and personal health, stating that just as illness becomes noticeable in a person, weaknesses in governance also become evident over time.

He suggested that signs of decline were visible in leadership performance. He added that he currently feels as energetic as he did five decades ago.

Trump said he is looking forward to a potential meeting with China’s president, emphasizing that a visit to China would be significant for diplomatic and economic engagement.

He underlined the importance of maintaining strong communication between major global powers.

Trump reiterated his belief that the conclusion of the conflict would have a direct and positive impact on fuel prices worldwide. He noted that prolonged military engagements in the past, such as in Vietnam and Korea, had raised similar questions about duration and outcomes.

Trump stated that 159 Iranian vessels had been destroyed during the conflict. He added that he would have preferred these assets to be seized instead, indicating a different strategic approach he believes could have been taken.

Trump did not respond to journalists’ questions specifically related to the Iran conflict. He concluded his remarks and departed from the event without further comment.
