CHAMAN: Pakistan’s security forces have successfully foiled an infiltration of the Khawarij militants from Afghanistan in the Chaman sector along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, security sources said.
The attempt was linked to militants associated with Afghan Taliban (TTA) and TTP, known as Fitna al Khawarij.
A heavy exchange of fire took place, during which seven to eight militants were killed, according to security officials. Other militants were reported to have fled, leaving behind bodies and weapons.
The area was immediately cleared by security forces, and a search operation was launched.
The situation was brought fully under control, it was stated. Operations were said to be continuing until the complete elimination of remaining militants.
Allegations made by Afghan-based militant elements against Pakistani forces were rejected by security officials. Such claims were described as an attempt to conceal failure.
It was stated that Pakistani security forces had the right to respond to violations of territorial integrity. A strong response would be given to any future infiltration attempts, according to security sources.
