WASHINGTON : The FBI released new information Monday regarding the firearm acquisitions of Allen, the gunman involved in the recent White House shooting investigation.
According to federal authorities, Allen purchased a pistol in October 2023 and a 12-gauge shotgun in August 2025 from the city of Torrance, California. Both weapons were obtained legally, the FBI said.
The bureau confirmed that Allen provided all required information to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) at the time of each purchase. In accordance with state and federal laws, he was subject to a mandatory 10-day waiting period before taking possession of the weapons.
No further details about the shooting itself or the suspect’s motive were immediately released. The investigation remains ongoing.
Who was the target at the White House?
The White House has revealed during initial interrogation that his primary target was President Donald Trump. The individual also allegedly expressed intentions to target members of the Trump administration, raising serious concerns among federal authorities.
One police officer who sustained injuries during the exchange has since been treated and discharged from the hospital. The authorities have described his condition as stable and improving.
Donald Trump described the attack as “another attempt” on his life, while focusing on that the event was not linked to any international conflict, including tensions involving Iran.
The investigators noted that preliminary findings indicate the suspect does not have a prior criminal record, a factor that has added complexity to the case.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has taken the lead in the investigation and has surrounded the suspect’s residence. Authorities are currently awaiting a search warrant to conduct a detailed examination of the premises, with the aim of collecting further evidence that may shed light on the planning and intent behind the incident.
