ISLAMABAD : The National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC) has released its report on the second national polio eradication campaign, highlighting above-average vaccination rates across all regions of the country.
According to the report, a total of 44.8 million children were vaccinated against polio during the campaign. Vaccination teams successfully reached 99 percent of households at both federal and provincial levels, with 400,000 frontline workers mobilized to provide door-to-door vaccine delivery.
Provincial breakdown shows that 23 million children were vaccinated in Punjab, 14 million in Sindh, 7.235 million in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 2.621 million in Balochistan, 441,000 in Islamabad, and 292,000 in Gilgit-Baltistan. In Azad Kashmir, 717,000 children were administered polio drops.
The report noted a 20 percent decrease in the incidence of refusal to receive the polio vaccine. The overall refusal rate in communities during the campaign remained less than 0.15 percent. Officials emphasized that door-to-door outreach successfully reached deprived children who might otherwise have been missed.
