Afghan Firing Injures Three in South Waziristan

South Waziristan: Three civilians, including two women, were seriously injured after unprovoked firing from across the Afghan border in the Angoor Adda border region of South Waziristan on 26 April 2026.

According to local sources, the incident took place in the village of Zalol, where Afghan Taliban forces reportedly fired artillery shells, hitting a civilian area in Zalol Khel village. As a result, two women and one man sustained serious injuries. The injured were identified as Rahimullah, his wife, and the wife of Zainullah.

Reports suggest that Afghan Taliban had been attempting for several days to facilitate the infiltration of militants linked to Fitna al-Khawarij into Pakistan. However, due to the vigilance and timely response of the Pakistan Army, these infiltration attempts were foiled.

Following these failed attempts, local residents claim that Afghan Taliban targeted Pakistan’s civilian population in frustration. The injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Wana for medical treatment.

Residents of the area strongly condemned the incident and demanded an immediate response from the Pakistan Army. It is worth mentioning that under Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq, Pakistan had recently carried out successful strikes against militant hideouts across the border.

Locals say that after suffering heavy losses, militants and their supporters have increasingly targeted civilian populations in border areas. Similar incidents have previously been reported in Dir, Bajaur, Orakzai, Torkham, and North Waziristan.
