PESHAWAR : Khyber Pakhtunkhwa KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has sharply criticized the provincial government’s priorities, stating that political activities and exhibitionist measures have taken precedence over solving public problems. He also warned that internal party differences and corruption are undermining governance.
Talking to the media, Governor Kundi questioned the necessity of recent provincial assembly sessions, suggesting that the expenses incurred should have been used to pay university employees’ salaries. “It would have been better if the expenses on holding the assembly session were spent on the salaries of university employees,” he said.
The Governor noted that while the constitution provides certain powers, the rationale behind the latest session remains unclear. “It is beyond understanding whether the recent session was against the government or against the speaker, because it seems that the session was called against itself,” he remarked.
Expressing regret over the misuse of public facilities, Kundi said grounds built for youth activities are being diverted for political purposes. He alleged that the “market for corruption is hot” and that some elements are seeking lifelong privileges. “Differences within political parties in the province have come to the fore, and such steps are being taken to humiliate each other,” he added.
The Governor urged the provincial rulers to focus on people’s welfare rather than wasting time on unnecessary political activities. “Only giving statements will not solve the problems; practical steps are needed,” he emphasized.
