Iran Denies Trump’s Claim of 8 Women on Death Row

TEHRAN :  The Iranian judiciary has dismissed as “false” recent claims by US President Donald Trump that eight women were facing the death penalty in Iran, state-linked media reported.

Citing judicial officials, Iranian media said Trump’s “empty-handedness in the field” had forced him to fabricate successes using fake news. “The women Trump is talking about have never been sentenced to death,” the judiciary stated.

The US president made a false statement about these eight women yesterday, according to Iranian reports. Today, Trump claimed that the death sentences of the women were canceled in Iran at his request.

Iranian media noted that despite being proven false just a day earlier, the US president repeated the allegation with a new variation. “Trump said yesterday that Iran should release these women before peace talks. Today he changed his story, claiming his intervention led to their sentences being dropped,” one report said.

The judiciary reiterated that no such death sentences ever existed and accused the US president of attempting to create a diplomatic victory where none exists. There was no immediate comment from the White House on Tehran’s denial.

The exchange marks the latest war of words between Washington and Tehran as tensions remain high over the ongoing conflict sparked by US and Israeli airstrikes against Iran.
