Tehran: Iran has strongly condemned the blockade of its ports as illegal and threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz in the Persian Gulf and the Red Sea in retaliation.
A spokesperson for the Iranian Armed Forces stated that any blockade on Iranian ports is unjustified and constitutes a serious violation of the ceasefire.
He warned that if Iran’s ports are blockaded, Iran will respond by shutting down ports in the Gulf and the Red Sea.
He added that although Iran does not have direct access to the Red Sea, it holds significant influence in the region.
The spokesperson reminded that Houthi rebels have previously attacked oil tankers in the Red Sea.
