Trump says progress made in Iran talks but Uranium issue remains unresolved

WASHINGTON: The President Donald Trump has stated that significant progress was achieved during negotiations with Iran, with agreements reached on several key points. However, he noted that a final consensus could not be achieved on the critical issue of uranium enrichment.

Trump said that the US delegation engaged in constructive discussions with Iranian representatives. Despite this, he criticized Iran’s approach, describing it as “poorly handled” during certain stages of the talks.

He further revealed that morning, the United States received a call from what he described as “the right people,” indicating Iran’s willingness to move forward with a deal.

Trump expressed optimism that Iran would eventually agree on the remaining issue, focusing on that much of the groundwork for an agreement had already been laid.

He also claimed that Iran had initiated contact with the United States, sending a message that it was “eager” to finalize a deal.

Trump mentioned the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz. He stated that the global community depends heavily on this key maritime route and revealed that several countries had offered assistance in enforcing a potential blockade against Iran.

However, he asserted that the United States does not require external support to take such action if necessary.

Trump mentioned that 34 vessels were recorded passing through the Strait of Hormuz in a single day, underlining the waterway’s significance for international trade and energy supplies.

He also made a strong statement regarding Iran’s nuclear capabilities, asserting that the United States would find ways to gain control over Iran’s enriched uranium if required.

Trump focused on that Iran must not be allowed to possess nuclear weapons under any circumstances. He added that the United States would not permit any country to use such capabilities as a tool for coercion or blackmail.

The developments come amid ongoing international concerns over Iran’s nuclear program and its broader implications for regional and global security.
