KARACHI: The mystery surrounding a devil-shaped statue that was recovered from a shop in the Mehran Town area of the metropolis has been solved, with police revealing it was made for an upcoming Quds Day procession.
The statue, crafted from thermo-pole, gained widespread attention after a video of it went viral on social media. Following the circulation of the clip, the Korangi Industrial Area police conducted a raid on the shop, seizing the statue and transferring it to the police station for investigation.
While the shopkeeper was not present at the time of the raid, authorities later apprehended the craftsman responsible for creating the statue.
According to the police, the statue was commissioned by a religious scholar. The shopkeeper, identified as Imran, was given the task of constructing the figure specifically for Quds Day.
In his statement to the police, Imran explained, “Allama Sahib instructed us to burn this statue in a procession on Friday as a form of protest.”
After recording the explanatory statement from the sculptor, the police allowed him to go free, concluding that there was no malicious intent behind the statue’s creation.
