TEHRAN: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has laid out three firm conditions for bringing an end to the ongoing war with the United States and Israel, demanding recognition of Iran’s rights, reparations for damages, and international guarantees against future aggression .
In a statement on social media platform X on Wednesday, President Pezeshkian said he had reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to regional peace during conversations with the leaders of Russia and Pakistan. He asserted that “the only way to end this war—ignited by the Zionist regime & US—is recognizing Iran’s legitimate rights, payment of reparations, and firm int’l guarantees against future aggression” .
The Iranian president’s remarks come amidst a backdrop of shifting statements from the US administration regarding the conflict’s progress. US President Donald Trump, speaking to media, suggested that the war with Iran would conclude “very soon,” claiming it had “largely achieved its goals” . He stated that US forces had inflicted more damage than anticipated and that the operation was ahead of the original six-week plan . However, President Trump has also delivered a contradictory message, vowing to hit Iran “20 times harder” if it disrupts global oil supplies through the Strait of Hormuz, making it “virtually impossible for Iran to ever be built back” .
On the battlefield, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed to have launched significant retaliatory strikes against US interests. According to Iranian state media and reports cited by Arab media, the IRGC targeted several US military installations in the Gulf region . These reportedly included the Al-Adiri Helicopter Base, the Mohammed Al-Ahmad Naval Base, and the Ali Al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait . The IRGC claimed its missile and drone attacks resulted in injuries to 100 US soldiers and inflicted “significant damage” on US forces . The claims remain unconfirmed by US authorities, though US Central Command has previously confirmed the first American service member fatalities in the conflict .
