Balochistan launches easy-installment E-Bike scheme

QUETTA : In a significant move to promote affordable and eco-friendly transportation Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti officially launched the provincial government’s Electric E-Bike Scheme. The initiative, unveiled at a ceremony in Quetta, aims to provide reliable and cost-effective travel solutions to students, working women, and the general public.

Addressing the inaugural event, the Chief Minister stated that the scheme reflects the government’s commitment to modernizing travel facilities for citizens. Under the program, electric bikes will be provided on easy installments, making them accessible for educational, professional, and daily commuting needs. “This initiative is an important link in our efforts to provide modern facilities to the people,” CM Bugti said, emphasizing that it would make daily transportation easier and more effective.

To ensure fairness, the Chief Minister assured complete transparency and merit in the distribution process. He announced that applicants from all districts of the province will be able to apply online, with beneficiaries selected through a transparent lottery system. He highlighted the practical benefits of the e-bikes, noting their range of 70 to 100 kilometers, which he said would be highly useful for students and employed individuals. The initiative is expected to not only provide affordable travel but also contribute to fuel savings and environmental protection.

Looking ahead, CM Bugti revealed that the government is considering a project to introduce electric loaders in the next phase. This step is intended to support the working class, particularly those involved in small businesses, by providing them with modern and low-cost transport options. He reiterated the government’s resolve to continue taking practical steps for sustainable development and environment-friendly transport in the province. Provincial Minister for Transport Mir Liaquat Lehri, along with other provincial ministers, members of the assembly, and Chief Secretary Balochistan Shakeel Qadir Khan, were present at the launch.
