President’s Son Responds to Iranian Supreme Leader Injury Reports

TEHRAN: Reports have surfaced that Mojtaba Khamenei, widely seen as a potential future supreme leader of Iran, was injured, though sources close to him say he remains safe.

According to a foreign news agency, Yousef Pezeshkian, the son of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, said in a message posted on Telegram that he had received information claiming Mojtaba Khamenei had been wounded.

Pezeshkian said he contacted friends who maintain links with relevant circles to verify the reports. Those contacts later informed him that Khamenei was “safe and in good health.”

Meanwhile, Iran’s state television described Mojtaba Khamenei as a “wounded soldier of the Ramadan war,” but did not clarify the nature or severity of his injuries.

Separately, a report by the The New York Times, citing three Iranian officials, said Khamenei had sustained injuries.

The report said he suffered wounds to his legs but remains conscious and is currently in a highly secure location.
