QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti has stated that the situation in Balochistan can neither be deemed entirely ideal nor does it mirror the distorted image portrayed by certain circles outside the province.
The reality lies between these two extremes, while negative impressions and one-sided narratives are damaging not only to the province but also to the state of Pakistan and government initiatives.
He expressed these views during an interview on a private television program.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti noted that national media frequently remembers Balochistan solely when an unpleasant incident occurs, while positive developments, developmental projects, and reforms within the province fail to receive adequate attention.
He highlighted that multiple youth welfare programs are underway, government hospital services have significantly improved, all public schools in the province have been rendered functional, and approximately 17,000 teachers have been recruited transparently and entirely on merit.
Regrettably, these achievements do not receive the appreciation they deserve in the national media.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need to understand Balochistan through its geographical realities.
In the past, the expansive area of certain divisions and districts rendered effective administrative oversight nearly impossible.
To address this, new divisions and districts are being established to improve state outreach to citizens, strengthen the administrative framework, and deliver public services to the doorsteps of people in remote areas.
The creation of smaller administrative units aims to enhance governance, ensure immediate resolution of public grievances, and integrate marginalized regions into the national development mainstream.
He clarified that these measures are intended to ensure public service delivery, administrative convenience, and an effective state presence.
