WEB DESK: A Pakistani precision airstrike in the heart of Kabul has eliminated a high-value target, with security sources confirming that senior Taliban commander Hamid Khorasani was killed in the attack. Khorasani was allegedly responsible for orchestrating suicide bombings inside Pakistan.
Eyewitnesses reported that Pakistani fighter jets targeted a vehicle in the Gulbahar Tower area, specifically the Bibi Haji Block, in District 16 of Kabul. The strike occurred amid heightened tensions as Pakistan’s Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq continues to expand.
According to latest details emerging from security sources, the strike successfully killed Hamid Khorasani, a top Taliban commander who had been issuing threats of suicide bombings targeting Pakistani cities and security installations. The vehicle was struck at the Kabul Taliban military brigade headquarters—a facility security sources describe as being known for training suicide bombers.
“The brigade headquarters in Kabul where Khorasani was present was a dedicated facility for training suicide bombers destined for Pakistan,” a security official told reporters. “His elimination is a significant blow to the Taliban’s terrorist infrastructure.”
Khorasani had reportedly been involved in planning multiple cross-border attacks and was known for his rhetoric threatening Pakistan with waves of suicide bombings. His death marks one of the highest-profile Taliban commanders killed since the escalation of hostilities.
The airstrike came as part of Pakistan’s expanded air campaign targeting Taliban military infrastructure across Afghanistan. Earlier official updates confirmed strikes in Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia, with two corps headquarters, three brigade headquarters, and two ammunition depots destroyed.
There has been no immediate confirmation from Taliban authorities regarding Khorasani’s death, though Afghan officials earlier acknowledged that Pakistani airstrikes had targeted Kabul and other provinces.
