QUETTA : In a significant development concerning state security and the rule of law, former police surgeon Dr Ayesha Faiz has been remanded into the custody of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) for three days by an anti-terrorism court in Quetta.
Dr Ayesha Faiz was produced before Special ATC Judge Muhammad Ali Mubeen following her arrest over allegations of supporting banned outfits and promoting anti-state agendas.
The case against Dr Ayesha Faiz was registered at a CTD police station under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) and the Pakistan Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) following a controversial press conference held at the Quetta Press Club.
According to law enforcement officials, Dr Ayesha Faiz utilized the platform to voice support for elements propagating separatist propaganda and hostile narratives against the state.
During the court proceedings, CTD authorities successfully argued for physical custody to investigate the network of facilitators supporting anti-state elements, leading the judge to grant the three-day remand of Dr Ayesha Faiz for thorough interrogation.
