Notable Decline Seen in Gold Rate in Pakistan Today

KARACHI: The local market witnessed a notable downward correction as the gold rate in Pakistan dropped significantly, aligning with shifts in international bullion trends.

According to the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Association, the price of gold per tola registered a decline of 2,400 rupees, settling the new rate at 4,63,136 rupees.

Similarly, the price for 10 grams of gold decreased by 2,058 rupees, bringing it down to 3, 97,064 rupees.

Market analysts closely monitor these fluctuations, as the ongoing adjustments in the gold rate in Pakistan continue to impact both retail buyers and major investors across major commercial hubs like Karachi and Lahore.

On the international front, spot gold experienced a decrease of 24 dollars, positioning the global rate at 4,406 dollars per ounce.

Over the past six months, the trajectory of the gold rate in Pakistan has been marked by intense volatility, driven by a combination of shifting macroeconomic indicators, currency fluctuations, and unstable geopolitical conditions worldwide.

Early in the half-year cycle, precious metal markets experienced aggressive bullish runs, with domestic rates climbing dramatically as international per-ounce prices scaled historic peaks.

Investors increasingly turned to bullion as a safe haven against domestic inflation and currency depreciation pressures.

However, this upward momentum was frequently interrupted by sudden downward corrections triggered by profit-taking in global markets and temporary recoveries in the local currency’s valuation against the US dollar.

Jewellers and market experts note that these alternating cycles of sharp surges and sudden dips have created a cautious trading environment.

While high-net-worth buyers continue to view bullion as a long-term hedge, retail consumer demand for jewelry has faced periods of sluggishness due to the sheer cost barrier.
