ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has successfully launched Pakistan’s second indigenous Electro-Optical satellite (EO-2) from the Yangjiang Seashore Launch Centre (YSLC), China, marking another milestone in the country’s growing space capabilities.
EO-2 was conceived, engineered, and integrated at SUPARCO’s Satellite Research and Development Centre (SRDC) through in-house research and systems engineering, showcasing Pakistan’s expanding expertise in satellite design, payload integration, testing, and mission readiness.
Designed to operate alongside EO-1, EO-2 observes Earth under different illumination conditions, improving surface feature interpretation, change detection, and imaging continuity.
The satellite strengthens Pakistan’s Earth observation fleet, enhancing data availability for national planning, governance, resource management, and the continued development of reliable, domestically engineered space systems.
