KARACHI: Karachi was saved from a potential major disaster following a successful operation by security agencies, resulting in the arrest of a suicide bomber and the seizure of a massive cache of explosives. The suspect was apprehended in the Baldia Raees Goth area, where officials recovered a staggering two tons of explosives from his possession.

According to intelligence sources, the arrested individual was part of a sophisticated plan to carry out terrorist attacks and suicide bombings at public places across the city. Security personnel reportedly worked on critical intelligence leads day and night for a week, meticulously tracking the terrorists’ movements and their logistical network.

The investigation revealed that the explosives, loaded into 60 drums and transported using mini-trucks, were stored in a house in Baldia Raees Goth. Alongside the drums, five gas cylinders—potentially intended to amplify the blasts—were also seized. The bomb disposal squad was immediately dispatched to the location and successfully defused the entire stockpile.

Sources indicate that the arrested terrorist belongs to the banned BLA Bashir Zeb group and is linked to the outfit known as Fitna-ul-Hindustan, which reportedly uses Afghan soil for its operations. Security agencies are now intensively interrogating the suspect to trace his handlers, facilitators, and broader network. The operation was launched based on intelligence covering activities across a 30 to 40-kilometer area in the city.

The successful operation has been hailed as a critical achievement, preventing significant loss of life and property. Investigations are ongoing to dismantle the entire terror cell.

Meanwhile the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister CM Sohail Afridi has announced an official visit to Sindh, scheduled for next Friday.

The announcement was made by KP Government Information Advisor Shafi Jan, who stated that the Chief Minister will undertake the visit alongside members of the provincial assembly. This trip follows CM Afridi’s recent visit to Punjab, marking a deliberate outreach to another major province.

The itinerary for the Sindh visit includes key meetings with civil society representatives and the leadership of his political party in the province. A significant highlight of the schedule will be an address by Chief Minister Afridi to the Sindh Bar Association, indicating a focus on engaging with the legal fraternity and potentially discussing matters of inter-provincial coordination and governance.
