QUETTA: Several areas in Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan, have been experiencing prolonged power outages since 1 PM, just a day before Eid.
A resident of New Labour Colony, located near the Eastern Bypass, contacted Buraq Baloch News and reported that not only their neighborhood but many nearby localities have been left in complete darkness amid an intense heatwave.
He said that the extreme temperatures have left women, children, and the elderly exhausted. With electricity gone for over ten hours, residents are facing a severe water shortage, and perishable food items stored in refrigerators are spoiling due to the heat.
He expressed frustration over government claims that electricity and gas would be supplied without interruption during the Eid holidays.
He said such announcements appear to be empty promises and instead provoke public anger, pushing people toward desperate actions.
He added that if lawmakers and high-ranking officials had to endure such conditions even for a few minutes, they might realize the suffering of the common people—but instead, they remain apathetic and indifferent.
According to him, if the government and state authorities are truly serious about addressing the grievances of the local population, then those efforts must also be visible in practice.

It’s worth noting that areas like Eastern Bypass, Sariab Road, Pashtoonabad, Tameer-e-Nau School and College vicinity, Kharotabad, and several others are now facing daily power cuts lasting between 10 to 12 hours. In this extreme heat, such extended outages have pushed residents to the limits of their endurance.
