ISLAMABAD: Zardari Pays Expenses for Private Trip, with President Asif Ali Zardari personally covering the costs of his recent overseas visit, according to a spokesperson for the Presidency. The spokesperson clarified that no funds from the national exchequer were used for the president’s private trip to Austria and London.
The clarification came in response to media reports and public discussion surrounding the president’s recent foreign travel. Zardari travelled first to Austria before continuing his private visit to London, United Kingdom.
According to the spokesperson for the Presidency, the president personally arranged and paid for the aircraft chartered for the journey. The spokesperson further clarified that all other expenses associated with the private trip were also being borne by President Zardari himself.
Zardari Pays Expenses for Private Trip Without Government Funds
The Presidency spokesperson said President Zardari had personally chartered the aircraft used during his overseas visit. In addition to the aircraft charter, the president would also cover expenses related to the aircraft crew, parking, accommodation and other arrangements connected with the journey.
Officials stressed that the trip was entirely private and that no expenditure was incurred from the national treasury.
The clarification was issued after questions and reports emerged regarding the cost of the president’s overseas travel. The Presidency maintained that there was no financial burden on the government because President Zardari was personally responsible for the expenses.
Zardari Travels to Austria and London
President Zardari’s private foreign visit included stops in Austria and London. After completing his engagements abroad, the president returned to Pakistan on Friday.
The Presidency described the visit as a personal trip rather than an official state tour. As a result, officials said the expenses were not charged to the government.
