WEB DESK: A video of the historic US-Iran peace agreement signing has been released, revealing that French President Emmanuel Macron was also present during the landmark event.
The footage shows President Donald Trump signing the agreement during a dinner in Warsaw, while Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian simultaneously signed the Memorandum of Understanding. The White House has since confirmed that President Trump’s signature formally ended the war with Iran, bringing the agreement into immediate effect.
Earlier, a US website had reported that both presidents had electronically signed the memorandum. The agreement was originally scheduled to be formally signed in Switzerland on Friday, but a diplomat from a mediator country and another source revealed on Wednesday that intensive talks were underway to expedite the process and begin implementation sooner.
According to diplomatic sources, the primary objective of the early signing was to reopen the Strait of Hormuz as quickly as possible, as both sides had already reached consensus on the matter. One source suggested that increasing political pressure on the White House to release the full text of the agreement may have accelerated the timeline.
The presence of President Macron at the signing ceremony underscores the international community’s keen interest in the breakthrough deal, which is expected to stabilize global energy markets and reduce tensions in the Middle East
