US-Iran Proposed Agreement Includes 60-Day Ceasefire

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir Arrives in Tehran

WEB DESK: Details are emerging of a proposed US-Iran agreement that would extend a 60-day ceasefire, keep the Strait of Hormuz open without tolls, and impose new limits on Tehran’s nuclear program, according to US media reports.

Under the reported Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)—set to be named the Islamabad Declaration with Pakistan playing a key role in its announcement—both sides would agree to a 60-day initial period, renewable thereafter.

According to the report, the MoU will be valid for 60 days with the possibility of extension, forming the basis for detailed negotiations on a final agreement.

Al-Arabiya previously reported that the next round of US-Iran talks is likely to be held on June 5. Despite former President Donald Trump cautioning against rushing into an agreement, diplomatic momentum appears to be building.
