Two Brothers Dead, One Critical in Quetta Wall Collapse

QUETTA: In a heartbreaking incident late Sunday night, two young brothers lost their lives while a third sustained severe injuries after a dilapidated wall collapsed on them in the Khaliq Shaheed area under the jurisdiction of Link Road police station.

 

The deceased have been identified as Zubair, son of Khuday Nazar, aged approximately 15 years, and Talha, son of Khuday Nazar, aged around 10 years. The injured child is also their brother, whose condition is reported to be critical.

 

According to eyewitnesses, the three brothers were playing in the area when a large section of the wall suddenly gave way and fell on them. Bystanders immediately rushed to the scene and pulled the children out from under the debris. However, Zubair and Talha had already died on the spot.

 

Sariab Superintendent of Police (SP) confirmed the incident, stating that two children had lost their lives and one was injured. Station House Officer (SHO) Ijaz Mahmood identified the deceased and the injured, confirming that all three are siblings.

 

SHO Ijaz Mahmood and DSP Sariab Division Talib Hussain reached the site promptly. Police and rescue teams shifted the bodies and the injured brother to a nearby hospital using a discreet ambulance.

 

News of the tragedy spread grief and anger throughout the area. The bereaved family and local residents have demanded that the civic administration, local government authorities, and relevant departments conduct an immediate survey of dangerous, defective, and old walls across the city to prevent such devastating incidents in the future.

 

Police have completed the identification process of the deceased children, while medical treatment continues for the injured brother. Authorities have launched further investigations and are collecting evidence from the surrounding areas.

 

The tragedy has once again highlighted the persistent problem of old and hazardous structures in urban localities, underscoring the urgent need for effective action from concerned authorities to protect the lives of innocent children.
