TEHRAN: A senior Iranian Foreign Ministry official has confirmed that a deal between Iran and the United States is likely to be reached today, while simultaneously expressing serious concerns that Israel could sabotage the agreement at the last moment.
Speaking exclusively to Geo News, the official acknowledged that US President Donald Trump had told media representatives that a deal with Iran is likely today and could be signed within the next few hours.
However, the Iranian official pointed to Israel’s bombing of Lebanon on Sunday morning, calling it a clear violation of the understanding proposed by the US. “The Iranian people and government are extremely angry about it,” the official said, adding that it remains to be seen what happens next.
Another senior Iranian Foreign Ministry official, responding to the same question, echoed the concern, stating that Iran is currently in a state of extreme anger. “There are concerns that Israel may take another last-minute sabotage action that could hinder the deal,” the official warned.
Despite these tensions, when asked whether a deal is possible today, the first official remained cautiously optimistic, saying, “There are possibilities for a deal. God willing, there will be a deal.”
The developments come amid heightened regional volatility, with all eyes on whether diplomatic efforts will overcome last-minute hurdles.
