WASHINGTON:  US President Donald Trump has threatened to start the war again with Iran, following what he described as ongoing phone negotiations with Tehran. His remarks were met with a welcome statement, according to reports.

Speaking to reporters, President Trump said that negotiations with Iran are continuing over the phone. He asserted that Iran should not possess nuclear weapons and that the country must publicly acknowledge its defeat.

“Iran must say that they have lost because we have almost achieved our goals in the war against Iran,” Trump stated.

The US President went on to make a series of claims about Iran’s military and economic situation. He alleged that 82% of Iran’s missiles have been destroyed, 159 ships have been sunk, and that the Iranian currency now holds no value.

In a separate revelation, Trump said he held a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding both Iran and Ukraine. During that call, Trump told Putin that Russia must stop its war before the United States can help bring an end to it.

Additionally, President Trump claimed that Putin has expressed concern over Iran’s uranium enrichment activities. No further details were provided about the timing of the call or any response from the Russian or Iranian sides.
