PESHAWAR: A terrorist killed by security forces in Bannu has been identified as Abdurrehman, an Afghan national and member of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), security officials said.
The strike was carried out during an intelligence-based operation on Tuesday, according to the officials.
The security forces used aerial surveillance to monitor the area.
Video footage released by the security forces shows a person travelling on a motorcycle along a dirt road.
The aerial camera tracks the motorcycle and follows the movement of the suspected terrorist through the area.
The footage also shows a nearby compound and surrounding terrain being monitored from above.
The suspect was subsequently targeted in the drone strike, according to the security forces.
The forces later released documents identifying the man as Abdurrehman, son of Ameer Jan.
The documents showed him to be an Afghan national and a member of the IEA, according to the security forces.
An SMG licence issued by the IEA was also recovered from his possession, the officials said.
The licence authorised possession of the weapon in Kabul and adjoining areas.
The security forces released the footage and identification documents as part of their account of the operation.
