BANNU : A suicide attack by Khawarij terrorists on a police station in the Fateh Khel area of Bannu was foiled on Saturday, but the explosion still resulted in the martyrdom of two police personnel and left several others injured, officials confirmed.
According to preliminary reports, the attackers attempted to ram a vehicle loaded with a large quantity of explosives into the police station. Alert police officials managed to intercept and blow up the vehicle before it could reach its intended target.
However, the powerful blast caused significant structural damage to the police post. The roof of the post collapsed due to the force of the explosion, leading to the casualties among the personnel inside.
Security sources confirmed that two police personnel were martyred, and two others sustained injuries in the incident. Additionally, reports indicate that two civilians were also injured as a result of the blast.
The explosion’s shockwaves heavily damaged several civilian homes in the vicinity, with reports suggesting that the roofs of multiple houses have collapsed as well.
Following the attack, security forces swiftly cordoned off the entire area. Rescue and clearance operations are underway, with personnel busy removing debris from the collapsed police post to ensure no one else is trapped.
Authorities have urged the public to remain calm, and further details regarding the attack are awaited as the investigation continues.
