TEHRAN: Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has reportedly taken control of two vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iranian media.
One of the ships, named MSC Francesca, is said to be linked to Israel, while the other is sailing under the Panamanian flag.
Both vessels are being moved toward Iranian coastal waters.
The British maritime security agency reported that gunfire was also directed at three ships in the area, though all vessels and crew members remained safe.
Another ship near the coast of Oman, about 15 nautical miles away, was also targeted.
Reports say an Iranian patrol boat attempted to surround a vessel and opened fire, damaging its bridge, but no fire broke out and the crew stayed unharmed.
