QUETTA: Unidentified armed men abducted a tribal chief and his son after setting up a roadblock in Mastung district, police confirmed on Thursday.
The incident occurred at Ghanja Dori, where armed assailants had established a blockade and stopped the vehicle of tribal chief Shah Zaman Khan Alizai. The kidnappers forcibly took Alizai and his son away in their own vehicle, police officials said.
Security forces have launched a search operation in the area, while an investigation into the abduction is currently underway, according to police sources.
No group has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping so far. Mastung district, located approximately 50 kilometers from Quetta, has witnessed sporadic incidents of violence and abductions in recent months.
