QUETTA: Security forces killed two militants after foiling an attempt to block a major highway in Balochistan’s Mastung, officials said on Thursday.
As per details, militants associated with Fitna al Hindustan tried to set up an illegal checkpoint and block the N-25 highway near Piringabad in Mastung district.
Security forces, however, foiled their attempt and the operatives were intercepted before they could disrupt traffic during routine surveillance.
Security forces responded swiftly and launched an operation. The terrorists fled in a snatched vehicle toward nearby orchards but were pursued and neutralized in a targeted engagement.
As a result, two militants were killed in an exchange of fire during the operation. Their vehicle was recovered and the area secured.
Security forces later cleared the N-25 highway and surrounding areas and restored traffic. Traffic resumed normally, officials said.
No security personnel were killed or injured in the operation.
