QUETTA: Khair-un-Nisa, Balochistan’s first woman cricket coach, is working to help girls from the province pursue the sport despite traditional and cultural barriers.
Her work has given young female cricketers a new source of confidence and encouragement. She is also seeking to expand opportunities for women in cricket across Balochistan.
“I am proud to have the honour of becoming Balochistan’s first woman cricket coach,” Khair-un-Nisa Baloch said.
She praised the Pakistan Army for encouraging women to take part in sports and providing them with opportunities to compete.
“My goal is to take Balochistan’s talented girls to the national and international cricket stage,” she said. “There is no shortage of talent among the girls of Balochistan. They only need opportunities.”
Khair-un-Nisa said seeing one of her academy players represent Pakistan at the national level would be her greatest achievement.
The academy’s players praised her coaching and individual attention.
“Our coach trains us very well and pays special attention to the abilities of every player,” the players said.
They said Khair-un-Nisa’s guidance had given them better opportunities to play and improve their skills.
Khair-un-Nisa’s efforts show how determination, hard work and perseverance can help overcome barriers and open new opportunities for women in sport.
