RAWALPINDI: The district administration has imposed Section 144 in areas surrounding Adiala Jail, the Red Zone, and other sensitive installations in Rawalpindi in view of the prevailing law and order situation.
In this regard, all forms of public gatherings, including rallies, protests, sit-ins, processions, and demonstrations, have been banned in the designated areas. The administration stated that the decision was taken as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety and maintain peace in the city.
The notification further said that carrying weapons, sticks, stones, petrol bombs, explosive materials, or any other hazardous items would not be permitted during the enforcement period.
The administration prohibited the removal of police barricades and any activity that could disrupt the flow of traffic or interfere with security arrangements.
The district administration stated that Section 144 will remain in force from May 5 to May 19, 2026. During this period, security agencies and local authorities will continue monitoring the situation closely to maintain law and order across the city.
The administration also appealed to the public to follow official instructions and remain peaceful during the enforcement period. Authorities reiterated that the measures are temporary and have been introduced solely to safeguard public safety and protect sensitive locations in Rawalpindi.
