Police Launch Manhunt After Cracker Attack on Mobile Squad in Karachi

Sad incident in Nowshera, Mira Jalozai, police investigation underway

KARACHI: Two police officers were injured when unidentified assailants hurled a cracker at a police mobile van in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of the city on Wednesday, police officials confirmed.

 

According to rescue sources, the injured officers were promptly rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment. SSP East assured that both officers are stable and their condition is out of danger.

 

“The attackers remain unidentified at this time, and investigations are underway to determine the nature of the explosive used,” the SSP East stated.

 

A heavy police contingent has cordoned off the crime scene, and forensic teams are collecting evidence. Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity to trace the suspects and ascertain the motive behind the attack. Further details are expected as the probe progresses.

Meanwhile in DSP Among Martyrs as Police Repel Terror Assault in Hangu; 22 Injured

In a brazen attack on Wednesday night, terrorists targeted a police check post in the Khazina Banda area of Hangu district, resulting in the martyrdom of seven security personnel, including a senior officer.

According to District Police Officer (DPO) Tariq Habib, the assailants launched a fierce assault on the Khazina Banda check post, catching the law enforcement officials off guard in the initial volley. Among those who embraced martyrdom was DSP City Diyar Khan, a seasoned officer known for his counter-terrorism efforts in the region.

The attack also left 22 police personnel wounded, including DSP Mujahid Hussain, who sustained injuries during the exchange of fire. All injured were promptly shifted to a nearby hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment. Hospital sources described the condition of several wounded as stable, while others remain under close observation.
