RAWALPINDI: First-Ever Joint Exercises Held Along Pakistan-China Border have taken place at Mintaka Pass, marking a notable development in border security cooperation between Pakistan and China. The exercises involved the Chinese military and the Khunjerab Security Police of the Gilgit-Baltistan Police.
The joint activities were conducted at the Mintaka border point, located around 4,600 metres above sea level. Despite the challenging terrain and harsh conditions, personnel from both sides participated in various activities focused on coordination, communication and professional skills.
First-Ever Joint Exercises Held Along Pakistan-China Border Focus on Coordination
Khunjerab Security Police personnel travelled for two consecutive days through difficult mountainous terrain to reach the Mintaka border point. Following their arrival, they joined Chinese military personnel in the joint border activities.
The exercises were aimed at strengthening coordination between the security institutions of Pakistan and China and improving operational capabilities in high-altitude and challenging border environments.
Exchange of Professional Expertise
The joint activities focused on border surveillance, communication and security procedures required for operating in difficult geographical conditions.
The exercise also provided an opportunity for personnel from both sides to interact and exchange professional experience related to border security and operations in high-altitude areas.
Chinese Military Hosts Reception
During the joint activities, the Chinese military hosted a special reception in honour of Khunjerab Security Police personnel.
Officials from both sides exchanged goodwill and expressed their commitment to strengthening friendly and professional relations between the two countries.
Display of Weapons and Defence Equipment
The Chinese military also arranged a display of various weapons and defence equipment for Khunjerab Security Police personnel.
The visiting police personnel were briefed about different defence systems and equipment used by the Chinese military.
Exchange of Gifts
As part of the friendly engagement, personnel from both countries exchanged gifts. The Chinese military also presented gifts to members of the Khunjerab Security Police.
Strengthening Pakistan-China Border Cooperation
The joint activities at Mintaka Pass represent a further development in security cooperation between Pakistan and China along their shared border.
