PM Shehbaz to Attend Khamenei’s Funeral in Tehran This Week

PM Shehbaz Sharif to Visit Iran Next Month

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to undertake a high-level diplomatic visit to Iran this week, where he will attend the funeral prayers of Iran’s martyred Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who passed away recently.

 

According to official sources, the Prime Minister will depart for Tehran in the first week of July. He is scheduled to participate in the official condolence ceremony and funeral prayers for the late Supreme Leader, which will be held on July 3, 2026, in the Iranian capital.

 

Following the conclusion of his engagements in Iran, Prime Minister Sharif will proceed to Turkey for further bilateral talks, sources confirmed.

 

In a parallel diplomatic move, the Speaker of Iran’s Islamic Shura Council, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, has formally written to Pakistan’s National Assembly Speaker, Ayaz Sadiq, extending an invitation to attend the mourning ceremonies in Tehran. In his letter, Qalibaf conveyed his best wishes for the Pakistani people, Speaker Sadiq, and the entire parliamentary body. He also emphasized Iran’s desire to further strengthen mutual respect, dignity, and bilateral cooperation between the two neighboring countries.

 

The funeral and condolence events are expected to draw senior leaders from allied nations, as Iran observes a period of national mourning for its late Supreme Leader.
