ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the promotion of Lieutenant General Amir Raza to the rank of four-star General and appointed him as the Commander of the National Strategic Command, according to an official announcement.
In this regard, General Amir Raza was previously serving as the Chief of General Staff (CGS) of the Pakistan Army, one of the military’s most senior operational positions. His elevation to the rank of General marks a significant development in the country’s military leadership structure.
General Amir Raza has been entrusted with the responsibility of leading the National Strategic Command, an important institution associated with Pakistan’s strategic defence framework. The appointment reflects the government’s confidence in his professional experience and leadership capabilities.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated General Amir Raza on his promotion and his appointment to the new role.
The Prime Minister conveyed his best wishes and expressed confidence that General Amir Raza would perform his new responsibilities with dedication, professionalism, and commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s national interests.
The Prime Minister also wished the newly promoted General success in carrying out his duties and acknowledged his continued service to the nation. He expressed hope that General Amir Raza would contribute effectively to strengthening the country’s defence and strategic preparedness in his new position.
General Amir Raza has served in several key command and staff appointments during his military career. Most recently, he held the office of Chief of General Staff, where he was responsible for overseeing operational planning, intelligence coordination, and strategic military affairs.
