RAWALPINDI: Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf has said that the acquisition of advanced and highly sophisticated technology is an essential strategic requirement for the Pakistan Navy. He said the navy is playing a key role in promoting peace, stability, and maritime security in the region.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Pakistan Navy Command and Staff Conference was held at Naval Headquarters in Islamabad.
Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf chaired the session. Principal staff officers and field commanders also attended the meeting.
During the conference, the Naval Chief stressed that the Pakistan Navy must maintain continuous combat readiness to counter both conventional and non-conventional maritime challenges.
He highlighted emerging threats in light of the current situation in the Middle East. He pointed to risks to maritime security, freedom of sea routes, possible disruptions in key shipping lanes, and instability at strategic waterways.
He said the Pakistan Navy continues to play an important role in ensuring peace, stability, and maritime security in the region. He added that its presence provides a strong sense of security.
The ISPR said the forum also paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives during the May 2025 Pakistan-India conflict. The Naval Chief described their sacrifices as a symbol of national unity and strong resolve against external aggression.
The meeting reviewed operational readiness, ongoing projects, and future plans in detail. Participants discussed aligning naval strategy with evolving regional security requirements to further strengthen operational effectiveness across all domains.
It was noted that the Command and Staff Conference is the Pakistan Navy’s highest decision-making forum, where the naval chief and senior commanders consult on policy and strategic matters.
